What are the EBRAINS Computing Services?

We develop, deploy, integrate and operate a variety of basic IT Services within the distributed HBP and EBRAINS infrastructure:

• the HPC/Cloud computing and storage services of the Fenix infrastructure, which are made available through the ICEI project
• the neuromorphic computing services SpiNNaker and BrainScaleS
• the HBP Collaboratory
• the EBRAINS accounts system („identity provider“, i.e. single sign on for EBRAINS services)

These services are offered free of charge for research projects:

• A (free of charge) EBRAINS account is required. Get an EBRAINS account here.
• The EBRAINS account already includes access to the Collaboratory, which allows collaborative work (wiki pages, shared file space, online shared editing of text documents and spreadsheets) with colleagues. The Collaboratory is also used for interactive access to EBRAINS services via Jupyter notebooks (python programs running without installation in a webbrowser).
• For access to HPC, Cloud and storage resources, a short project proposal needs to be submitted through an online tool, which will be evaluated by an access committee based on peer-reviews.
• For a test quota for the Neuromorphic Computing systems, please send your EBRAINS username via email to neuromorphic@humanbrainproject.eu (some more process info is available here).
