Search operators

The collab search feature uses several operators to fine-tune your search results.

The Minus (-) operator

The "Minus" operator refines your search by excluding any results containing the term immediately following the operator. For example, if you search "file storage -bucket", the results will exclude any search results containing the word 'bucket'. Note that a dash inside a word (i.e. not preceded by a space and not the first character in the search) does not count as a minus operator, e.g. "2021-2022" will search for those 9 characters, not excluding results with "2022".

The And (AND) operator

The "And" operator returns only those results containing all specified terms in your search. For example, entering "drive AND bucket" into the search field will yield results that include both the words 'drive' and 'bucket.' The number of words used is not limited to two and can be extended as needed. The And operator is optional. Searching for "A AND B" will produce the same results as searching for "A B".

The Or (OR) operator

The "Or" operator broadens your search by returning results containing any or all of the specified search terms. For instance, typing "drive OR bucket" will yield results with 'drive,' 'bucket,' or both. As with the "And" operator, the number of words used with the "Or" operator is not confined to two and can be expanded according to your needs.

Miscellaneous notes

Multiple of the above operators can be combined. Note that because of the associative properties of OR and AND logic operators, no parenthesis are needed e.g. for a search like "A AND B OR C AND D".

Quotes and parenthesis are not processed as operators.
