The open Metadata Initiative for Neuroscience Data Structures, short openMINDS, develops and maintains a set of metadata models for research products in the field of neuroscience. As research products, openMINDS considers:

  • data originating from human/animal studies or simulations (Dataset)
  • computational models (Model)
  • software tools (Software)
  • metadata/data models (MetaDataModel).

openMINDS is powered by HBP (Human Brain Project) and EBRAINS (European Brain ReseArch INfraStructure). It is maintained by a small development team and, as open-source project, highly appreciates community feedback and contributions.

Within EBRAINS, the openMINDS metadata models are currently adopted by the EBRAINS Knowledge Graph and Atlas service.

This documentation covers different aspects of openMINDS on different level of detail, in order to consider the different expectations and needs of each user. Please find below a summary of the content of this documentation that might help you to find what you need.
