This memo presents what happens when an existing HBP user tries to login to a service which uses Collaboratory 2 authentication (e.g. https://wiki.ebrains.eu)
Case 1: User has an account in Collaboratory 1 but not in Collaboratory 2
Case 1.1: User has a personal (non-institutional) email, e.g. at gmail.com
When the user attempts to login, the login is rejected. This username is unknown in Collaboratory 2, and Collaboratory 1 authentication is not checked because it's an unauthorized email address in the Collaboratory 2 space.
Possible actions:
- The user registers for a new account by clicking "Getting Access" and uses an institutional email address. Or,
- The user asks Support to create exceptionally an account with a personal email and motivates the request.
Case 1.2: User has an institutional email, e.g. at epfl.ch
At first login, the user will have to verify the email address linked to the user account in order to login. Then he will have access to the Collaboratory.
Case 2 : User want to register in Collab 2
Case 2.1: User has a personal (non-institutional) email, e.g. at gmail.com
Registration is forbidden for them, you must belong to an institution affiliate to the Collaboratory
Possible actions:
- If you think your institution should be authorized, contact the support and we will review if the institution should be accepted to the email white list or not.
- Or try a support request to be exceptionnally authorized to register with your personal email and with limited access right.
Case 2.2: User has an institutional email
You will be able to register in the Collaboratory, you will have 2 account created and 2 verifcation email, one for the new collaboratory https://wiki.ebrains.eu/, and the very same account for the previous collaboratory https://collab.humanbrainproject.eu/
note : You should use the old collaboratory only to access existing collab or contents. The old collaboratory in few month will be deprecated. Every new content collab, file or notebook should be added to the new collaboratory.
